DESCRIPTION

This position is responsible for assisting the Project Manager (PM) in all aspects of a construction project, from bidding and subcontractor coordination to close out and project completion. The Assistant Project Manager will also work with the PM to manage multiple projects and bid coordination at any given time.

Essential Functions:

Accurately estimate, prepare and submit commercial construction project bids.
Assists the PM in managing each client’s project including; processing change orders requests, request for information, product submittals, payment apps, closeout documents etc.
Communicate with the client and subcontractors to ensure success of the project.
Assist the on-site superintendent and subcontractors through completion of the project.
Contact landlord and city representatives for rules, regulations and requirements.
Coordinate paperwork for job startups and communicate with subcontractors, superintendents, mall personnel, and clients.
Coordinate vendors through all phases of construction.
Read and interpret architectural drawings/blueprints and project spec books.
Other duties as assigned by the Project Manager or VP of Construction.

Ability to read and understand architectural drawings.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

Normal Office Environment
Able to sit or stand for long periods of time working at a computer
Able to walk and navigate through a jobsite
Some exposure to loud noises while on the jobsite

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in construction management
2+ years assistant project management experience
Experience working in a commercial construction environment
Valid Driver’s license and auto insurance

Required Travel:

Site visits to jobs as requested
